Thanks to everyone who sponsored us, we raised over twice our last year's total with all your help!
It was a very wet Saturday ride, and the camp was a mud-swamp, but the food was good and Sunday was lovely, with sunshine at the emotional finish.
Hi, we are the team "Ride to the Very End/Paladin Coast", signifying our goal to work as a team to enable all cancer patients to live their lives free of pain and other symptoms for every moment they live. We are raising money for research in supportive and palliative care for cancer sufferers, irrespective of their type of cancer and whether they are cured or not. The Ride to the Very End team from 2011 are partnering with the Ride team from Paladin and from the Fairmont Hotel in Victoria. Paladin is a pharmaceutical company which produces some valuable medications used for pain management in cancer patients. Team Paladin Coast isl be comprised of fun, forward looking, eclectic and inclusive sorts - functioning in the truest sense of TEAM. Fundraising, training, the ride itself - one for all, all for one. The Fairmont team are a fit and committed wonderful group, and we are very glad to have them ride with us this year.
The vast majority of funds raised for cancer research go to finding "The Cure", and though this is of course is a very worthwhile aim, unfortunately research into caring better for the people actually living with cancer, has never been funded to anywhere near the same extent. We aim to begin to correct this imbalance. There have been some dramatic advances in pain and symptom management and palliative care over the last 20 years, but we still have a long way to go. We need to carry out research both into new treatments, and into ways of making sure all patients get access to treatments we know can work.
