Support My 2012 Ride to Conquer Cancer®

Hello there! My name is Angela Cullen Spooner. I am a Family Physician, wife, daughter, sister, mother of 5 children, an aunt, friend and fellow human being, concerned about others. Welcome to my Personal Page!

 The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer, benefiting The BC Cancer Foundation, is a Vancouver to Seattle, two day cycling journey through Canada's Pacific region taking place in June 2012. The 2011 Ride was such a positive experience for me in so many ways that YES, I have committed to do it all over again! This ride (and the funds raised from it) makes a REAL DIFFERENCE in the advances in cancer research, diagnosis and treatment. All of this has had a major impact on those around me in my day to day life and the patients we see every day in my Family Practice.  

Funds raised from the Ride To Conquer Cancer directly support breakthrough research, exemplary treatment, and compassionate care made possible through The BC Cancer Foundation; a world class leader in this field. For me, attending lectures about the current research done by scientists, learning of new diagnostic equipment being used and seeing first-hand the improvements in survivor numbers and outcomes makes me want to continue to work diligently hard for this very important cause.

I truly appreciated all of the generous support given to me and ultimately to The BC Cancer Foundation for the 2011 Ride. Looking ahead, I have committed to raise as much money as I can once again for the 2012 Ride and as I am starting earlier this year my personal goal is to exceed my last year's total!   

The organizers have added a new challenge route for the 2012 ride so I will be training hard rain or shine throughout this winter into spring to take on this longer tougher route and distance! Once again I'll be riding with the names of over 300 family, patients and friends (names supplied by YOU) that have been affected by cancer close to me on my bike. These were all taped to my bike top tube and km after km I thought of the important people in all of your lives and mine affected by cancer... People like my 2011 ride inspiring patient who sadly lost her hard fought battle against colon cancer a month or so ago... It is for people like this woman that it has become so important for me to continue my part in finding a cure for all cancers.

 So, as early as it is, I am trying to get the word out to everyone that I know about my 2012 Ride and would ask that you consider contributing to this ongoing history-making event with a donation.
